Level Ground is a Christian Rock band based out of London Kentucky. The band was originally formed to lead the worship for the Celebrate Recovery program at Hawk Creek Baptist church in 2008. However, since that time it has become so much more. Level Ground has had the fortune of playing with such bands as Building 429, Todd Agnew, Seventh Day Slumber, Johnny Diaz and Rush of Fools.

Level Ground is more than just a band to it’s members, it is a ministry and a calling that each one takes seriously and enjoys. Making music with a message.

The ground at the foot of the cross is level. We are all equal at that one place. It is the desire of the band to reach people and bring them to the foot of the cross, where God’s grace abounds.

Different churches. Different denominations. Different hurts, habits, & hang-ups. 4 people, 4 different lives. 1 Savior, 1 goal, 1 mission.

Shane Wooten loves freedom — the freedom to dream bigger than you
should, to live the simple country life, to enjoy a good time and good
music with friends. He’s overcome his share of hard times, and that’s
reflected in his music and the stories he shares on stage.

He scored his first #1 Florida hit single with “Shovel’n Sunshine” and
never looked back. Since then Shane has been touring Nationwide
playing his brand of Country music and producing reality show style videos
of his adventures. Shane is being added to radio stations and internet
stations for rotational play and request shows worldwide on daily basis.

No statement rings more true than the words of country artist Angie Patton. A native of London, KY, Angie is genuinely proud of where she comes from, “I’m a country girl to the core and very proud of my Kentucky roots.” Her collection of stories includes personal experiences and lessons from her own life or those close to her. Angie leaves no closed doors when it comes to embracing all avenues of music. The 44-plus songs she has written range from traditional country with an occasional bluegrass twist, to folk and even some with a gospel touch. But that does not take away from where Angie’s heart lies and that’s in the heart of country music.

AppalachianFunkyFolksyRastaBluesman Mitch Barrett is one of Kentucky’s most sought-after and talented singer, songwriter and storytellers. Mitch’s music draws from his Appalachian heritage and the values it instilled: agrarian work ethic, simple living, the importance of family and celebrating the joys and the struggles of everyday life through music and song.

A keen life observer and riveting performer, Mitch Barrett songs deftly laces thought-provoking subject matter with a satirist’s sense of wit and irony. Whether he’s leading a workshop, headlining a Performing Arts Center, or playing a large festival, Mitch takes his audience on an engaging journey, channeling the inner voice of a truck-stop waitress, a mountain boy seeking spirituality or a socially and environmentally-charged activist.

Mitch has won many of the country’s most prestigious songwriting competitions. The Folk’s Festival Songwriting Competition, The Merlefest “Chris Austin” Songwriting Competition (twice awarded), and The Kerrville “New Folk” Competition and most current the 2009 Telluride Troubadour Competition.

Some of his performances include The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, The Copenhagen Blues Festival, Sisters Folk Festival, Common Ground on the Hill, The Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival, The Evening Muse, The Grey Eagle, Pine Mt. Dulcimer Festival, Kentucky Home Front Theater, Blue Ridge BBQ & Music Festival, Kentucky Music Weekend, Rudyard Kipling, Clear Creek Healing Arts & Music Festival, The Dream Acres Festival, Tidewater Friends of Folk Music, The Freight & Salvage, The Folks Festival, The Kerrville Folk Festival, The Music2Life Competition. Floydfest, The Clinch Mt. Festival, The Bele Chere Festival, The Birchmere, The Writer’s Block, The Bean Blossom Festival, Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, The Tidewater Traditional Arts Festival, The National Storytelling Festival, The Kentucky Homefront Theater, The Blue Plate Special, Merlefest, The Little Tennessee River Festival and the Kennedy Center Stage in Washington, D.C.

Mitch has performed with such notables as Arlo Guthrie, Mark Schatz, Si Kahn, Greg Martin, Dirk Powell, Josh Pennington, Less Taylor, Darrell Scott, Richie Havens, Tom Paxton, Dar Williams, Doc Watson, Sam Bush, Tim O’Brian, Steve Forbert and Dave Mallett.

The Greatest of These are a 4-piece original band that have been active in the central Kentucky music scene for several years. Each of the band’s members originally hail from eastern Kentucky.

Todd Melton’s vocal style, clearly influenced by The Doors and Pearl Jam, forms a unique bond with the melodic and classic hard rock-influenced guitar riffs written by Steve Jones. Dustin Tennill and Trent Garrison form a rhythm section that is the perfect backdrop for these sounds, rooted in alternative rock as well as blues and jazz. Each member of the band brings a unique musical perspective, being influenced by different avenues of rock and roll. The common thread in The Greatest of These may very well be each member’s roots, planted in the eastern Kentucky mountains. Melton’s lyrical songwriting style lends evident references to the band’s hometowns, often writing about poverty and other social issues prevalent in those areas.

The Greatest of These recorded an EP in 2003, a full-length studio album in 2007, and a second full-length album in 2011. They are currently working on another EP to be released in 2012.

Performing at TNL on August 23, 2012 | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

In a town known more for generating pop country ‘hat acts’ and contemporary christian music, there is a storm brewing. small independent bands with no management, booking, record labels (or even local media support) are changing the way people think about Nashville Tennessee. One of the leaders of this movement is the Hillbilly Casino, the brain child of Nic Roulette, former singer for Indiana rockabilly powerhouse, ‘The Blue Moon Boys”.

In 2004 Roulette moved to Nashville, where after about a year he eventually found a solid core of top notch players that were interested in really being a band. With bassist Geoff Firebaugh (BR5-49), guitarist Ronnie Crutcher (Tabasko Kat, Brian Setzer’s Nashvillians) and drummer Andrew Dickson (Brian Setzer’s Nashvillains) things really started to come together. What started as nothing more than a revved up rockabilly band playing for tips at Layla’s Bluegrass Inn, on Nashville’s famed Lower Broadway, has turned into a closet industry doing over 200 shows a year. Though you might still find the Casino playing at Layla’s when they’re home, they’ve taken their show on the road as well. Theatres, clubs, and backwater bars From Hollywood California to Bergen Norway have seen the boys roll in, set up, and lay waste to any and all in attendance.
